Facebook May Host News Sites’ Content

Facebook has started working with several media organizations to host a site’s content on a user’s news feed instead opening an article in a separate web browser, which typically takes about eight seconds to load. This new format is still in very early stages of development. Facebook’s attempt to improve content, which is intended to enhance user satisfaction, will keep users on its site and increase advertising rates as a result of improved satisfaction.

Major drawbacks for publishers of these websites include a major decrease in traffic to their sites and losing the ability to accumulate consumer data, as well as changes to advertising methods which could have implications to revenue generation.
