Print publications continue race against time to shift to digital

Print publications are still struggling in the shift to digital because online advertising has yet to make up for the losses being taken from the traditional platforms. Time Inc. and News Corp. both reported revenue declines this week due to traditional sales continuing to fall while online ad revenue only growing minimally, an online ad growth of only 1.4% for Time Inc.

Many print and traditional news outlets have taken a serious hit in losing a niche market of advertising. Now, the competition for online advertising has grown. Instead of Time Inc. and News Corp. competing with other print news outlets for advertising, the companies are up against all organizations advertising online such as Facebook, Google, NBC, and the Weather Channel.
